Day 25- Editing
Let's just say I spent the day wiping the drool from my mouth. I was asked to help edit a cookbook that the ladies of our church are putting together to help with the cost of our new children's building. Oh my goodness, did the ladies from our church submit some mouth-watering recipes. I will be the first person in line to fork over my cash when it is published this fall. I love cooking, and I actually am one of those weird people who like to edit (lucky I'm a 4th grade writing teacher), so this activity was just perfect for me. We met at our pastor's house where his wife had the entire cookbook taken apart in sections and spread over the table. The two of us along with two other girls spent about five hours reading the entire cookbook and correcting mistakes that we found on little sticky notes. We made sure that 1 1/3 cups had an "s" on the end; that Jello and Pyrex were capitalized; that parmesan cheese and graham crackers were uncapitalized; and that onion, pepper, and celery had commas in all the right places. It was tedious. It was nitpicky. I loved it. Really, could I have asked for a better Monday that included recipes, proofreading, sticky notes, good conversation, and coffee? I think not.
