Day 19- Stay Fit. Go Green.

Started the morning off with my regular at-home workout. I've been a subscriber to SHAPE magazine for almost two years, and I would say that besides Michael, this magazine has been the single most influential inspiration to me to stay fit and healthy. I simply love this magazine. It is positive, encouraging, filled with success stories, and crammed with advice about everything from skin care to body image to exercise tips (and full of none of the trashy articles about things I find way too intimate to read about in a magazine). I get all my at-home workouts from this magazine (there are several different workouts each month), as well as light, healthy recipes that don't require a lot of processed ingredients. It is as much a staple in my gym bag as my tennis shoes. Later in the morning I loaded up my car with plastic and took it to the recycling bins. Lately I've been trying harder to be kinder to our environment by recycling. When we were in San Antonio this past weekend, our friend showed us the recycling bin at his house. He simply filled it up, then took it to the curb where it was picked up by the city once a week, just like the regular garbage. I really wish our hometown had a service like this due to the fact that I think more people would recycle if it was as convenient as throwing away trash. I've been stowing away plastic bottles and plastic bags for weeks so that I can carry them up to the local supermarket to put in their bins. I've been saving every plastic bottle imaginable, from regular water bottles to hair product bottles. The only thing I'm disappointed in is that our supermarket only accepts plastic bags and bottles, not glass or aluminum. I would like to start recycling those things too if I could find a place to take them.
It felt slightly rewarding in a way to be able to drop all the bottles and bags in those recycle bins. I know it's not much, but I feel better about myself by doing my very small part to help our Earth be a little bit cleaner.
