Day 24- Memory Lane...I Mean Aisle
I have absolutely LOVED being in the middle of the wedding planning melee with my sister. It has been so much fun to daydream and plan with her. I've gotten in the top of my closet and dug out my wedding binder and leafed through all of the old plans that I made. Yesterday was the culmination of planning thus far when she found her wedding gown. That inspired me to take out my wedding gown today. So I did. And I put it on. And it still fit! Which is every girl's after-the-wedding-dream-come-true.
Michael was so gracious as to humor me by lacing it up and snapping a few pictures before he hit the golf course. Deuce was not a part of our lives at the time of our wedding, so it was his first time to discover the joy of a bridal gown. Bridal gown, to him, is apparently synonymous with blanket- the ultimate blanket. He decided to camp out on my train, following me around the house and plopping down as soon as I stopped. The "blanket" was thick, satiny soft, and best of all, attached to his "mama" so he could lay down right next to me.
So. What do you do in a wedding gown that you can't get off by yourself when your husband has gone to the golf course? Kick back on the couch and put up your feet, I guess. I ended up flipping through the pages of engagement, bridal, and wedding day pictures in our coffee table book and reminiscing about the priceless memories of that special time in our lives. Then I resorted to watching House Hunters on HGTV.
After the wedding last year, I was contemplating having my wedding dress preserved. However, my very wise mother gave me a lot to think about when she mentioned that a preserved wedding dress would only sit in a box in a closet or under a bed. It made me think that honestly, I have never seen my mom's wedding dress in person, only in pictures. I would love to see the real thing. I want to make her memories mine. I want that for my daughters, too. I want them to play dress up in my dress, to make memories in it like I did, instead of moving the box around to a new spot every time I need more space. Why not make rewearing my wedding dress a tradition? Why not wear it more than once? So, here's to a lifetime of memories in a very special dress whose value will only increase the more I put it on myself or my future daughters.

I love this post. When I get a wedding dress (and get married) I want to wear it more than once too! :)
