{JPB Day16} Last Day of Vaca

We are settled back at home safe and sound. We got in so late last night that I didn't upload any pictures, so I'm doing a belated documentary today.

Early yesterday morning we got up to take one more walk before leaving this beautiful scenery behind. Aunt Diane drove us to a large open space near their home that had originally been a ranch, but is now a dog park with walking trails. I captured this picture of an old cabin sitting way up on the hill. How quaint! Makes my imagination run wild over the story behind it.

Here we are after hiking to the highest point.

No sky like a Colorado sky. It was difficult to leave this behind.

For a final goodbye, we ate lunch with Uncle David, Aunt Diane, and Aaron at a sunny little spot downtown. We sat at a table outdoors to enjoy the weather and atmosphere.

We ate supper downtown on this same street the night of the Rockies game. Notice the lights strung between the buildings behind Michael's head? Those all come on at night, which transforms the entire atmosphere of the place. They look like low-hanging twinkling stars. This is the final picture of us in Colorado.

This vacation spot is already a favorite of ours, and we're scheming ways to go back as soon as we can. The active, outdoor lifestyle and the opportunity to eat fresh, local, organic food in many of the restaurants are very attractive to us. Not to mention the ever-present mountains looming over expanses of open spaces. We can't wait to go back!
