{Baby Davis} Rumor Has It...

By now, many people have heard the news, but just to confirm from my own "mouth" I'd like to say...

WE'RE PREGNANT!!

Words cannot say how excited Michael and I are about our new little baby. I've always wanted to be a mother, yes, but I never knew what deep feelings of tenderness, love, and protection would take over my heart once a baby started growing inside me. This is simply the most amazing feeling, to know our child is alive (beating heart and all) and is being nurtured by my body. I've never really considered myself the "motherly" type, but now, oh yes, now I am beginning to understand how deep a "mother's love" can go.

Here's our recent announcement and a few tidbits of information about the pregnancy :)

Due Date:: April 2, 2013

How far along:: 9 weeks

Gender:: Unknown

Movement::  Not yet. Baby is too tiny.

Symptoms:: Fatigue, queasiness during the day (no vomiting yet), sour stomach in the evening

Craving:: Orange juice, oatmeal, grilled cheese, fried chicken, milk. No cooked veggies, please!

Looking Forward To:: A noticeable baby bump!

Fun Baby Fact:: Baby can move limb buds and can respond to outside stimuli such as light and sound.

Weekly Development::
~Baby is no longer an embryo! Baby graduates this week to a fetus.
~The arms of Baby Davis are long enough to bend at the elbow. Time for waving!
~Baby's heart beats about 150 times per minute. No audible lub dub yet.
~Uterus is the size of a large grapefruit.

Emotions:: Elation! Deep tenderness for Baby. Also a feeling of unreality- is there really a baby in there?!

Best Moment of the Week::
~Seeing Baby Davis' teeny tiny body on the ultrasound machine. Baby is really in my tummy!
~Telling parents and siblings and watching their reactions.
~Our doctor offering to pray with us at the end of the first exam. He prayed over Baby and the pregnancy.

One last thing-- the ultrasound picture!

The tiny spot in the center of the black hole is Baby Davis. He/she is only 1.89 centimeters long, and to me looks exactly like a Lima bean! The cutest little Lima bean I've ever seen :) I will say that my affection for Baby has increased immensely after seeing his/her image on the screen. It makes the pregnancy seem very real!

I'll be updating weekly with "belly pictures" (don't worry, my shirt will be down) and interesting information about what's going on in the pregnancy.

I'd love for you to join us on our journey over the next seven months!
