{Baby Davis} 11 Weeks

Due Date:: April 2, 2013

How far along:: 11 weeks

Gender:: Unknown

Movement:: None that I can feel.

Symptoms::
~This week has been strange in that I've had an increasing appetite, but nothing sounds good to eat. I've been famished by lunchtime, so I've been eating a bigger lunch than normal. Supper, however, is a different story. I've been eating very small meals at dinner because most of my nausea comes in the evening. Mornings and early afternoons have been great. I don't start feeling sick until late afternoon and evening, which is fortunate (if you could use that word in reference to "morning sickness") because I can make it through school and get home before I start to feel too bad.
~I've taken several naps this week, which is not usually characteristic of me. Making all that placenta has been hard work!

Craving:: Again, I haven't really "craved" anything this week because nothing has sounded good, and almost everything I eat after 5:00 upsets my stomach. I did try cooked broccoli twice, and could eat it without gagging, which is a big step toward eating cooked vegetables again! Other than that I'm still loving orange juice; organic, whole, vitamin-D fortified milk; and shredded whole wheat cereal with strawberries.

Looking Forward To:: The end of the first trimester! Not sure if it's a magic switch, but I sure am wishing for no more nausea. Only one more week!

Fun Baby Fact:: Baby has more than doubled in size over the past three weeks. Crazy!

Weekly Development::
~By now, amazingly, most of Baby's systems are fully formed.
~Now working inside Baby: digestive system, hormone production, and production of white blood cells.

Emotions:: Pretty even keel this week. One thing I've noticed is that every time I see a baby (and by "baby" I mean any child age three and under) I've been met with a strong desire to hold ours.

Best Moment of the Week::
~Let's just say making it through one more week with no throwing up. Still haven't done that yet, which seems like a huge accomplishment considering how queasy I've been.

Project Nursery has begun! We are in the middle of choosing paint colors. I know I want light gray, but it's turning out to be a pretty persnickety color to choose. We've bought three samples, and so far two have been too close to light blue and the other way too dark. The search continues.

We made two purchases for Baby this week. One is a CD of piano lullabies composed by Jim Brickman. When M and I got married,  many of the songs for our prelude and at our reception were composed by him. We were excited to find this CD, and thus continue the tradition of Jim Brickman in our home. I can already imagine Baby sleeping soundly in a quiet nursery lit by the soft glow of a nightlight with the soothing melodies of piano music drifting peacefully in the background. Sigh. (The "sleeping soundly" part is probably a tad too much to hope for, but hey, I've always been a dreamer ;)

The last purchase is definitely NOT part of any fantasies. On the contrary it is a very real understanding. Oh yes. Diapers. Dirty ones. We've started stockpiling now.

Yes, choosing the right color gray is very challenging. Now you can understand why we painted the livingroom twice and still have a baby blue guest bath! Not as easy as it seems. Wishing you the best of luck!
