{Baby Davis} Week 22: Dill Pickles & Maternity Clothes

Date:: April 2, 2013

How far along:: 22 weeks // 5 months 2 weeks

Gender:: Girl

Movement:: I now have this girl's schedule down. I love looking forward to the times I know she will be awake and active. She usually kicks early in the morning when I'm waking up and reading my Bible, around 5:30; about mid morning between 9:00 and 10; and late in the evening between 8:00 and 10. It's fun knowing when to expect some dancing. I catch myself "listening" inside my body for her to start moving.

Symptoms::
~ My clothes are getting smaller. I finally conquered one of my irrational pregnancy fears (see my friend Judith's hilarious blog entry about it here) when I bought my first maternity shirt at Target this week. I've been putting off buying maternity clothes because let's be honest, most maternity clothes that are within my budget are NOT stylish. However, when I tried on this fitted pink shirt with side rouching that really made my bump pop, I couldn't resist. I still haven't braved trying maternity pants yet (let's face it, that gigantic panel in the waist is kinda scary), so for now I'm sticking with stretchy "jeggings," tights, leggings, and yoga pants for lounging.
~ My belly feels very firm when I touch it.
~ I still have slight back pain in the morning. For some reason I just can't find a good sleeping position.

Craving::
~ Apple juice
~ Dried apricots
~ Frozen yogurt (classic tart with strawberries & pecans)

~ Dill pickles: which, by the way, GREAT NEWS!!! Our Super 1 now carries a line of pickles without Yellow #5 (a harmful dye found in many processed foods). M and I frequently use the comment cards our grocery store provides to request certain food items that fit with our whole food lifestyle. A couple months ago I wrote asking for options for pickles that do not carry artificial dyes. When I saw them on the shelf this week I was so excited that I snapped a picture right there in the aisle and texted it to Michael. I strongly encourage you to use the comment cards at your store to request items that are not currently available. We have great customer service, and our store has not failed in eventually getting what we request on the shelves.

Looking Forward To::
~ Getting furniture in the nursery. We painted this weekend (pictures to come when the paint dries and the tape comes off), and we both love the color. It makes it really easy to visualize Little Miss in there in less than 5 months.
~ I'm ready for Michael to be able to feel our Little Miss kick!

Fun Baby Fact::
~ Little Miss is (supposedly) as long as a papaya.
~ According to What to Expect When You're Expecting, our little girl's weight should double within the next four weeks. I might just need those maternity pants then.

Weekly Development::
~ Baby's blood vessels are developing under her thin layer of skin, turning her body a faint pink color.

Emotions::
~ Happy!
~ Smitten by our little girl. We can't wait to meet her!
~ Still torn between wanting my pregnancy to speed up but slow down simultaneously.

Best Moment of the Week::
~ Finding out our friends, Kyle and Judith, are having a GIRL! It has been so fun to go through pregnancy with them. It looks like our similar experiences will continue.
~ Visiting our doctor for our monthly check up. Heard Maylin's heartbeat again, and that never gets old. Dr. also confirmed that everything looked "perfect." It's always a relief to hear him say that.
~ Getting the nursery painted!

GIRL. How are you NOT in maternity pants yet lol? They are the best thing created, ha!!

We found some furniture too (maybe)!! Looking forward to getting the nursery together over Christmas. If Michael needs any help, tell him to call Kyle. ;)
