{Baby Davis} 20 Books to Read to Maylin

Can I just say I love being pregnant?

I do! I love it!

Admittedly, I've had an extremely easy pregnancy. I only had about three weeks of "severe" morning sickness in which I had a steady queasy feeling, but never threw up. I haven't been overly exhausted, cranky or moody. My weight gain has been right on schedule at 2 pounds a month; I've had no weird cravings or food aversions (aside from cooked vegetables throughout the first tri). Our baby girl has been pronounced healthy at each doctor visit. Honestly what more could I ask for?

Now, I understand that I have yet to get to the third trimester, during which everything I typed above could completely change. But I have to believe that the first half of my pregnancy is a pretty good indicator of how the remainder will go (hopefully that bodes true for labor and delivery as well...)

My friend Judith has been chronicling her pregnancy through a series of lists, which has inspired me to create a list of my own. And yes, it is about books. For those of you who know me, this shouldn't come as a surprise. I've thought long and hard about which books are worthy to make the top 20; some titles I added right off the bat, while others were deliberated over for days. These are the stories that I want to read to her, while in a rocking chair or cuddled in bed. Some of them are from my childhood, read to me by my mother or read to myself in the quiet of my room. Others I discovered only after becoming an adult. These are the stories that inspire the character attributes I want her to possess: bravery, compassion, integrity, imagination, determination, curiosity, honesty, confidence, and a defined sense of self.

Finally I've secured The List (in no particular order). Without further ado:
