Date:: April 2, 2013
How far along:: 22 weeks // 5 months 3 weeks
Gender:: Girl
Movement:: I now have this girl's schedule down. I love looking forward to the times I know she will be awake and active. She usually kicks early in the morning when I'm waking up and reading my Bible, around 5:30; about mid morning between 9:00 and 10; and late in the evening between 8:00 and 10. It's fun knowing when to expect some dancing. I catch myself "listening" inside my body for her to start moving.
Symptoms::
~ My clothes are getting smaller.
~ My belly feels very firm when I touch it.
~ I really cannot find a comfortable sleeping position...and I'm only halfway through my pregnancy! Lying on my stomach feels like I'm lying on a giant water balloon; lying on my back makes my fingers and toes numb; lying on my side with a body pillow between my legs has been the best position so far, but I still wake up with my left arm asleep and back pain. Welcome to the later half of pregnancy :)
~ Even though I'm walking 30 minutes/ 2 miles on weekday afternoons, I get out of breath doing the simplest things, such as sorting and putting clothes in the washer. Another example, after I finish getting dressed and getting my shoes on in the morning I'm breathing like I've just run a 5k! How does this happen?! Sometimes I'm completely baffled by my body these days.
Craving::
I've decided to list the things I eat frequently; that is, every day or at least three times a week. Since I've had no "burning desire" to eat a certain food, I'll just say these diet staples are what my taste buds want.
~ Apple juice
~ Dried apricots
~ Frozen yogurt (classic tart with strawberries & pecans)
~ Dill pickles
~ Wheat crackers with cheese
~ Oatmeal with cinnamon, raisins, and honey
~ Gala apples (every day for recess snack)
~ Popcorn (the old fashioned way- kernels popped in a skillet with organic butter)
~ Whole, organic milk
Looking Forward To::
~ Dressing this little girl in cute clothes!!
~ Rocking and feeding her
Fun Baby Fact::
~ Little Miss is (supposedly) as long as an ear of corn.
~ Maylin can hear a variety of sounds from her cozy little resting place, including my breathing, my and Michael's voice, honking horns, barking dogs, and wailing sirens.
Weekly Development::
~ Maylin's face is almost fully formed, but without the fat under the skin.
~ Her skin is still very thin, almost transparent. If you were to look at her now you'd see clear through to her organs, bones, and blood vessels.
~ Don't worry about Little Miss not having enough fat on her bones for much longer. She is gaining about six ounces each week in the form of fat, growing muscles, bones, and organs.
Emotions::
~ Happy!
~ Smitten by our little girl. We can't wait to meet her!
~ Still torn between wanting my pregnancy to speed up but slow down simultaneously.
~ I do feel that I've been more emotionally down this week, probably due to the diagnosis of our pastor (and close friend) with stage 4 cancer, as well as stress at school.
Best Moment of the Week::
~ Michael finally felt Maylin kick!
~ We registered at a local children's store for "fun" things for Maylin.
~ Our glider came in this week & M put it together this afternoon. See photo below.
~ I finally found bedding for the nursery that I adore at Pottery Barn Kids. Yeah, I went ahead and put that on a registry too :)
~ While we were Christmas shopping this weekend two strangers commented on the fact that I am pregnant. This is the first time someone who hasn't known that I'm pregnant has asked when I'm due or said congratulations, and neither of these people were at the children's store! I guess that means that I have enough of a pregnant belly now that it's not a guessing game anymore.
As promised, here are some pictures of our little girl's nursery.

I love the color!! We just brought our crib home yesterday...yet it's still in the box. Sadly, we still have a LOT to do before we're ready to even begin painting.
Every time I try to lie on my stomach, Alice kicks. She is not pleased with that position, lol.
