Spark Needed To Rekindle Flame...With Reading

I just spent an hour and a half at the public library. And walked out with only 2 books.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?????
I am quite concerned with myself, and have been for the past couple of weeks. You see, I've begun to realize that I don't read as much as I used to. In fact, I just asked myself what was the last book that I read. Hmm.... I can't remember. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE LAST BOOK THAT I READ!!!!!! There is something definitely wrong with me. It concerns me that I don't have time to read any more. It concerns me that I can't find any books that I want to read. I mean, I even went to the non-fiction section today. THE NON-FICTION SECTION. For those of you who know me, know that I do NOT read non-fiction. EVER. But so desperate was I today to find something I might be interested in reading, I went to the the non-fiction section. I thought, "Hmm, a cookbook might be nice," since I now watch the Food Network like a crazy person. But then I remembered, "What am I doing? I've got about 20 cookbooks at home that I've gotten as wedding presents. There can't possibly be a cookbook here that I don't have." So then I moved to the decorating section. Since Michael and I have moved in to a new house(well, he'll move in in 8 days!) I thought that some decorating tips might be nice. I found titles like The Bedroom of Your Dreams, Decorating Your Living Room For Less, How to Make Your Own Space. Nothin. Nada. Zilch. Boring. Boring. Boring. I skipped those. Then I realized that I was actually browsing the non-fiction section. I was looking at books on gardening, for heaven's sake! Now, when and where am I actually going to garden?! It was like I finally got a slap in the face- "Jana, you're looking for a book in the non-fiction section." I quickly put the book away and hi-tailed it for the fantasy section. Give me some wizards and make-believe worlds; that's more my line of reading.
If anything will jumpstart my interest in reading, my beloved fantasy will. Nope. I didn't find anything I wanted to read! I walked from fantasy to mystery to gen. fiction back and forth, back and forth. In the end, I decided on one book about ancient Egypt and another about ancient Greece. Ho hum.
Now that I'm home, I don't even want to read them. In fact, my Giada De Laurentiis cookbook is open on the couch beside me, and I'm reading about no-cook pasta sauces. Really, Jana?
So, what can cure this ailment. I've been an avid reader my whole life. Everything I see or hear or experience reminds me of something that I read in a book (just ask Michael, he gets tired of hearing "Oh! That reminds me of...." or "Oh! Have you ever read...."). Is it just that I've read everything under the sun? Is it that I've been to busy to read? Is it that I'm (heaven forbid!) bored with reading? Is it that I'm living my own fairy tale right now and don't need to be in someone else's story?
Maybe this summer, when I supposedly will have some extra time, will stoke the dwindling fires of my reading interest. I dearly, desperately hope so.

I know one thing, you may be in a reading rut right now but your writing is still absolutley beautiful! Do you like Greek mythology? If so, have you read Percy Jackson and the Olympians series? They are good. :) See you so soon!!

I love Greek mythology! I haven't read the Percy Jackson series, but have heard many good things about it. And if you like it, I know I probably will! I'll put it on my list.

I love the Percy Jackson series. If you want to borrow some of the books I have the first three! Also...what were the books called that you picked up the other day?

I spend a lot of time in the library myself and it takes me forever to find books that I like. My struggle is finding an author that I love. Im stuck on one author and get excited everytime she comes out with something knew. When I am done with the book, Im mad because I have nothing to read. Ha. If you like christian fiction then try Karen Kingsbury. She is my all time favorite! :)
