My Mountain Moment

"For you shall go out with joy, and be lead out with peace. The mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands." Isaiah 55:12 I certainly am filled with an abundance of joy and an overflow of peace. I love this verse, especially the part about the mountains and hills singing and the trees clapping their hands(probably because I'm a fantasy/fairy-tale lover). God has been so good to me. There have been times in my life when I've had to cling to the verses that are meant for the what I call the "valley moments." You know, the times when it's all you can do to get out of bed in the morning; when you have nothing to hold onto but the belief that God is your Rock and your Fortress; when you have to trust that everything will turn out when you have no idea in the world how it will. My "valley verses" include "Cast your burden on the Lord and He shall sustain you..." Psalm 55:22; "For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion. In the secret place of His tabernacle, He shall hide me..." Psalm 27:5 "Why are you downcast, oh my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God..." Psalm 42:11 "From the end of the earth I will cry to You. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I..." Psalm 61:2 These verses are perfect during those dark moments when you feel that nothing will ever go right again. BUT(lovely word isn't it?), there are times in life, the "mountain moments," when I can't keep from smiling even if I want to; when I'm walkin' in sunshine because everything in the world is going my way; when my dreams are coming true all at once. It's during these times that I need my "mountain verses." Isaiah 55:12 is one of them, as well as: "I will rejoice in the Lord. I will have joy in the God of my salvation. Yhaweh Adonai is my strength. He will make my feet like deer's feet, and He will make me walk on my high walls..." Habakkuk 3:18-19(and that verse follows a valley verse, which makes it doubly joyful); "Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done..." Psalm 40:5; "I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart...I will be glad and rejoice in you..." Psalm 9:1-2; "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart..." Psalm 37:4 I'm in a mountain moment, in a chapter of my life that is filled with joy, anticipation, and peace, in a time when I'm rejoicing as I'm bringing in my sheaves(Psalm 126:6). And I have no one to thank but the God of my salvation, who has heard my every cry and seen into the depths of my heart, who has blessed me beyond imagination with an abundant life, who has carried me in sorrow and who now rejoices with me in gladness. And next Saturday, when I walk down the aisle to meet the man that God selected, chose, created, molded for me, I'll be singing in my heart- "Thank you, God of my soul, for this perfect blessing."
