{Baby Davis} 27 Weeks:: It's the Third Trimester Already??

Date:: April 2, 2013

How far along:: 27 weeks // 6 months 3 weeks // 3rd trimester

Gender:: Girl

Movement::
Still moving (or as I like to say dancing or tumbling) more frequently and with more force. Most of the time she starts moving as soon as I sit down. I read that she's probably lulled to sleep when I'm up and moving, and wakes up when I'm still. So far, that's been pretty true to form.

Symptoms::
~ My clothes are getting smaller don't fit.
~ My belly is very firm.
~ My back has been significantly less painful after doing prenatal yoga and Pilate's for a week. I hope it will continue to improve!
~ Shortness of breath after doing simple activities (chalking it up to all that extra blood flowing through my body)
~ I tend to lose my balance more often. I find myself tipping slightly forward, especially when putting on socks or shaving my legs in the shower. I wonder why?
~ No ankle or finger swelling, protruding belly button, or stretch marks yet.

Craving::
I've decided to list the things I eat frequently; that is, every day or at least three times a week. Since I've had no "burning desire" to eat a certain food, I'll just say these diet staples are what my taste buds want.
~ Apple juice
~ Frozen yogurt (classic tart with strawberries & pecans)
Dill Any kind of pickles
~ Wheat crackers with cheese and mustard
~ Oatmeal with cinnamon, raisins, and honey
~ Gala apples (every day for recess snack)
~ Popcorn (the old fashioned way- kernels popped in a skillet with organic butter)
~ Whole, organic milk
~ New this week:: Cuties (those tiny, delicious oranges), homemade trail mix with pecans, peanuts, raisins, and dried plums

I do not like fish of any kind, or unfortunately, salads, which I absolutely loved before I got pregnant. Now I eat a bite or two and push it away. Not even appetizing.

Looking Forward To::
~ Starting birthing classes.
~ 4D ultrasound
~ Feeling Maylin hiccup

Fun Baby Fact::
~ Little Miss is (supposedly) as long as a head of cauliflower
~ My uterus is the size of a soccer ball.
~ Babies born this week have an excellent survival rate, even though 12 weeks premature, because their lungs have developed enough to breathe for the most part on their own.

Weekly Development::
~ Little Miss weighs a little over a pound.
~ Brain wave activity in babies at this stage of development show different sleep cycles, including the rapid eye movement (REM) phase where dreams occur. This little baby could be dreaming already!
~ Other "talents" our little girl has by this point are blinking, coughing, better breathing, and more intense sucking of the amniotic fluid.
~ Still waiting on those hiccups!

Emotions::
~ Smitten by our little girl. We can't wait to meet her!
~ I'm getting ready to see our baby on a sonogram again. It's been awhile since we've looked at her (since we found out she is a girl), and it's getting close to time for our 4D ultrasound. I just want to see her little body again!

Best Moment of the Week::
~ Sitting with Michael watching and feeling her wiggle.
~ I haven't missed a single yoga or Pilate's session since December 27. Success!
