That Special Place

Do you have that specific place that is your favorite place to be in the whole world? The place that when you're there you have complete peace, your mind feels at rest, and time seems to stand still. The place that holds so many cherished memories because of the people who live there and the hours you've spent in their presence. THIS is what my Aunt Nina's house is like. This is what I feel when I think about her and her home. My heart is completely happy when I visit her. Michael and I, along with my sister and her husband, drove the hour and a half drive north to visit her this past Saturday. I usually visit in the late summer before school or in the fall during Thanksgiving break. It was intriguing and refreshing to see the "farm" (they raise cattle) in the late spring/early summer.

I snapped some photos of the gorgeous flowers growing around her yard. My Uncle E.W. took us on a small tour of the vegetable gardens. I wanted so badly to catch a picture of the chickens that were scratching around, but they wouldn't let me get close enough. The color of these flowers have not been photo shopped or altered in any way. I hope you can see how pure and vibrant their colors are naturally.

These two pictures on the left are two of my favorite views from the yard. When I was younger, I used to climb onto a low-hanging limb of the pecan tree that is in the yard and look out on the pastures and the barn. I could stay out on that limb for hours reading or daydreaming (not sure which I did more of!). That pecan-tree-perch is still one of my most favorite and cherished of places. Michael and I posed for a quick picture in the rope and board swing that is now hanging from the pecan tree.
Meet this little guy, the newest member of farm- Deacon! He is precious, and I have certainly fallen in love with him. I am glad he will be keeping my Uncle E.W. company when he's tending to the cows.
I truly cannot think of a more perfect and relaxing way to spend our Memorial Day Saturday!

I wish I had something of a green thumb that made me want to go outside and plant flowers! Unfortunately...I do not, lol. Love the pics!!

Enjoy the chicken -- Kyle was a big fan! =)
