An Unintentional Shopping Trip

I went shopping today. Without meaning to. I was only going to stop in at Target quickly to grab a gift card and then be gone. Honestly I was. Only somehow, and I'm still not exactly sure how, I got sidetracked and ended up in the clothing section, which is miles from the check-out counters where the gift cards are. Two dressing room visits with armloads of clothing, two hours, and over $100 later I'm sitting in my car thinking what every woman has thought at some point or another, "Oh.My.Gosh. What is Michael going to say about this?" Which morphed into, "How am I going to tell him about this?" I drove the 30 minutes home with that sickening, sinking feeling in my gut, that oh-so-familiar feeling that every female gets when she knows she shouldn't have spent that money on clothes. In the end, I just decided to honestly and excitedly tell Michael about the great deals I got on my back to school wardrobe (I mean seriously, everything I purchased was on clearance, and who can pass that up?). The pieces I bought are such staples that I'll be able to wear them a lot anyway. Michael does such a good job with maintaining our budget that I knew exactly how much I had available to spend. It is liberating to be able to spend money with confidence because you know it's there and what it's for. Which is how I was able to decide which pieces to buy and still have enough money left over in my personal section for other important things that I'll need. Like my haircut tomorrow morning.
